The site is located in Ried, which is a small hamlet (isolated group of buildings) in the political community of Köniz (Koeniz) near Bern, Switzerland. The group of buildings is situated on 15 park-like and peaceful hectares. While most of the terrain is zoned for agriculture, the buildings are zoned for public use.
It is situated on a small hill, surrounded by meadows and woods and with views of the Jura mountain range and the Bernese middle land. Shopping facilities and public transportation are available at a distance of about two kilometers. The main train station in Bern can be accessed with public transportation within six minutes. The Bern-Belp airport is 30 minutes away by car.
The property includes several buildings and facilities: two main houses, a staff building, a half timbered farm house, stables, hayloft and shed, a gymnasium and several additional out buildings; as well as a riding ground, sports field, tennis court, swimming pool, garden, park and farm land.
The buildings are currently in use and can be inhabited straightaway. The structural condition of the houses is good. There will however be a need for some renovations to adapt the buildings for the Center. Proposed renovations include the addition of showers in the guest rooms, renovation of the main kitchen area, and so forth.
The complex was established in 1900 as a children’s home and boarding school by a social foundation having a Christian background. The last building was constructed in 1982.
The postal address is: Stiftung Landguet Ried - RIC, Hilfigweg 10, 3172 Niederwangen, Switzerland.
